1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce. A beautiful car finished in the optional extra cost Burgundy paint. This is a factory color. This car is iin Yuma Arizona and I have owned it since 2001. This car is as good as it looks in the pictures. Everyone that looks at it loves it. As you can see in the pictures the car has been well cared for. Before I bought the car the man before installed a top of the line Alpine stereo system with navigation a remote CD player behind the passenger seat next to it is the long bass box 1 amplifier under one seat and 2 or 3 in the trunk. He also had the Panasport wheels installed which looks great and cuts cowl shake. Since I have owned it I have put about 15,000 miles on it.

When I bought I took it to Foreign Auto Menders an Alfa only specialist in San Diego and said what ever it needs do it. It needed I think only about $300.00 worth of work. All new hoses and water pump at that time just to be safe. I installed Koni shocks, a Stebro stainless steel exhaust system from Canada a very old sports car exhaust system manufacturer and it sounds great. I ordered a Squadra tuning computer chip from Holland that gives the car more low end torque. the steering wheel was replaced be the man I bought the car from and it looks great. The former owner of Foreign Auto Menders in San Diego,an Alfa only shop, said it is the most correct driving Alfa he has driven since new or better because of the wheels being lighter. Two years ago and about 3000 miles ago I had a new clutch installed and at that time I had them go through the transmission and replace what was needed. I also at that time had the cylinder head done with all NEW valve and guides. I also installed a new Bosch Fuel pump because it was starting to make noise when it hot. At $20,000, this is priced considerably higher than your average Spider. Good ones can be had these days for between $13,000 and $16,000. The color is rare and Panasport wheels are not cheap, but even considering that along with the level of care, it’s probably not enough to take it beyond $16,000 to $17,000. The market for $20,000 plus Series 4 Spiders with this kind of mileage just isn’t there yet. Discounting the price, however, it appears to be a nice car and should go on to prove many naysayers wrong that you can’t have a hassle free Alfa with over 100,000 miles on the clock.

This is a beautiful 49,250 original miles 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce that I have owned for almost 10 years. I am the third owner. I have kept this Alfa in our garage with a custom cover (included) for the entire time I have owned the car. I have replaced oil and fluids on a regular basis. The paint is original. I replaced the muffler two years ago with an ANSA exhaust system. I also replaced the trunk cable one year ago. The condition is immaculate as you can see by the pictures. High quality cloth top is absolutely like new (original) with perfect rear plastic window. Original tan Tonneau cover is perfect. Engine compartment very clean. No leaking oil, fluids, etc. There is no accident history, no dents, no dings. The AC could use some Freon. I am selling because...well, I am getting older and downsizing. This is the last car of a small collection I had (have an older 1984 Pininfarina that doesn't really count as the collection also for sale). I kept the best for last. I will add more information as I think of it.

I have added pictures via the above Picasa link (about 70 pictures). I note that the Alfa has all service books and records from the dealership and first owner. The Alfa has perfect acceleration/compression; everything is original, paint, etc...beautiful car. Oil changed every year (only about 1000 miles per year driven since I bought 10 years ago. To be clear, this Alfa compares or is better than the Alfas that sold on eBay in April for over $14K.

I just remembered that there is one item I should note: some disrespectful person broke the antenna off before I bought the car 10 years ago. I never replaced it because I don't listen to the radio or music with the top down. It is very easily replaced at International Auto Parts for about $82. It is completely accessible inside the trunk for replacement and would likely only take about 30 minutes to unscrew and re-install. See link for antenna.

It’s fairly common to find Series 4 Spiders with under 75,000 miles, as most were used as toys by those who had more than one vehicle. As we’ve seen with others like it, this one is worth around $12,000 to $15,000, probably on the lower end given that it is not the higher Veloce spec. For someone who wants a cheap and cheerful roadster but wants to avoid the hairdressers car syndrome of the Miata, there’s fewer options more attractive than this.

For sale is my private car that I use very offen, it is titled and registered in Miami, Florida. Mechanically very good, engine very strong, drives very, super good. It feels as when it was new, this is one of the best Fiats I have ever owned, it rides so tight it is unbelievable. You may be able to purchase a similar Fiat to restore for $4,000 or $5,000 but must expend couples thousand more I doubt it if will run like this one.

I’ve never seen one with them mounted, but the Lancia Beta style alloy wheels work rather well on this Spider, complimented by the slimmer chrome bumpers that the earlier models carried. For the condition of the vehicle, the asking price isn’t too far off the mark in terms of what these cars are fetching nowadays. As long as major rust issues aren’t lurking underneath, this looks to be an honest little roadster that you wouldn’t be afraid to use on a regular basis.

While this Spider has its flaws, they certainly aren't anything too difficult to fix. Series 4 Spiders values have stayed pretty flat over the past few years. One can expect to pay between $9,000 and $15,000, depending on mileage and condition. I'd suspect somewhere between $12,000 and $13,000 would be enough to get the deal done with this car.

Presented formally for sale for the first time since completing a thorough mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment during the summer and fall of 2012, is this beautiful 1960 Fiat 1200 “Vetture Speciali” Spider. Originally purchased at a Fiat dealership in San Francisco, the car was driven very little since new, but remained with the original owner until his passing in 2009. His neighbor bought the car from the original owner’s estate with the intent of bringing it back to its former glory, but eventually he was convinced to sell the car to us.

The cabriolet version of the 1200 or “spider” was restyled in 1959 and given a new body designed by the renowned designer Battitsta Pininfarina. The 1200 Spider was built by Fiat's Vetture Speciali (meaning: special cars) unit, and has amazing similarities to Ferrari's 250 GT PF Cabriolet of the same era (minus 8 of the 12 cylinders of course). Available at a fraction of the cost, the popularity of the 1200 Spider skyrocketed with sports car enthusiasts. A new 1200 Spider sold for $2,595 and proved to be a rather prudent choice, especially in the American sports-car market. In 1960, the Spider was given a boost of power, with the 1221cc engine reaching a peppy 63 horsepower. Production of the Spider continued with few changes through March of 1963.

Now presented in a striking color combination of black paint with two tone red and black interior (available factory options at the time), our special little Italian dish is certainly a head turner. As you can tell from the pictures, a painstaking effort was given to ensure that this wonderful 18,000 mile California original sports car was preserved and presented as if it just left the factory in Italy. The car has competed respectfully in two prestigious Concours d' Elegance events in Southern California, earning second place honors at the La Jolla Concours d' Elegance this past April. As great as this Spider appears in person or in pictures, she performs even better. The engine presents in as new condition after being rebuilt, resealed and repainted in factory colors with everything correct down to the stickers and oil filter cannister. The paint was stripped to bare metal with not an ounce of rust found anywhere. All chrome and stainless has been rechromed and refurbished, and all interior components: gauges, rubber, switches, handles and panels have all been reconditioned. To give an idea of how well preserved this Spider really is, the canvas soft top was replaced on the car in January of 1972 and is still in amazing condition! Seize the opportunity to purchase what is arguably the best original example of this model of Fiat in the world! Certain to increase in value in a fast appreciating European sports-car market, this special Fiat Spider represents a sound financial investment while providing classic Pininfarina styling and Italian panache and performance.

These 1200 Spiders can fetch in the low to mid $20,000 range in good shape, and I'd expect this one to come close to that figure. I get used to seeing Spiders of all kinds painted in red, but in black, it kicks this car up a notch in terms of classiness.

1963 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider

As rare as they are, we’ve featured a few Alfa Romeo 2600 Spiders over the past year. Here comes another one for sale in California. These roadsters featured a fantastic dual overhead cam inline six that bellowed out a mellifluous tone worthy of the most exotic Italian machine. The car’s styling was courtesy of Carrozzeria Touring and looked very much like an enlarged, but refined Giulietta Spider.

The annual national Alfa Romeo convention is coming up in July; wouldn't you like to attend it in style? Location is Napa/Sonoma Wine Country. This beautiful Italian lived most of her life in Northern California, but now resides in Southern California. It would be a homecoming of sorts for her.

2600's are rare; just 2,255 were built between 1962 and 1966; this one is number 204. It is estimated less than 500 are on the road today. Six cylinder, in-line, hemi-head, DOHC. I am the third owner, however, just two families have owned this car. A friend of my Dad's at work purchased it new in 1963 from an Oregon dealership and registered it in California. He owned it for 10 years, sold it to my Dad. I remember as a kid riding in the back seat going to races at Laguna Seca, Candlestick Point, and Crows Landing. Dad drove it for just 3 years including to Mom's 40th high school reunion in Washington, Iowa before parking it in a garage. Car is 50 years old this year/ the last 39 years in my family.

New paint in 2000, rebuilt engine 2005, new interior 2010, new top 2011, and new exhaust 2012. I kept this car with as many original parts as I could; triple Solex carburetors, generator, points and condenser, 400 MM size tires and wheels. Black with a red interior is striking; a real head turner. I get thumbs up, waves, honks, and smiles whenever I take her out for a spin, top down, on a sunny Southern California day.

Extensive work was done by the famed GTA shop in Santa Ana 2011 removing all rust from the kick panels and inside on the frame where you cannot see it. Automobile is maintained by Stewart at APC in Orange. Garaged and car-covered in San Clemente, California. About 73k miles. Looks gorgeous, runs great, sounds beautiful. Fun to drive. Comes with black and gold plates, some original parts, including rubber mats, tonneau cover, car cover, 1:43 model, DVD of S1M0NE. No shipping on this item; just drive it or you arrange to have it shipped home.

While they command a bit more than their smaller stablemate, these 2600 Spiders offer relatively good value for money when it comes to Italian exotics, mainly due to their obscurity as compared to vintage Maseratis and Lancias of the same period. Values for these big Spiders can range from $20,000 to a little over $60,000. I'd suspect this car is somewhere near the top, and will bring a figure solidly in $50,000 territory.

2009 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider

The 8C marked the return of Alfa Romeo to the US market after a 13 year absence, albeit in a limited production form. One year after the coupe made its debut and everyone thought things could get any prettier with this high-end sports car, Alfa debuted the Spider version, which brought open roofed thrills to what has been thought of as the most beautiful vehicle of recent memory. Only a handful of these exotic roadsters were brought stateside, and this one for sale in Connecticut is one of them.

Prices have stayed pretty flat for the 8C, whether it be the hardtop or Spider variant. It is rare that you would ever see one for sale under $200,000, with $225,000 to $250,000 being about the average price point. While there are cars that might be faster, might have sharper handling or offer more luxury for the cost, I doubt there is a prettier car of the last ten years that you could buy. As the television show Top Gear once asked, “can a car be art?” In this case, my answer is a resounding yes.

1969 Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto

We've featured a lot of Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spiders over the past few months. I've always been a fan of how those cars combine classic looks with modern practicality. For those who want something a bit more vintage, might I suggest my other favorite Spider, the Duetto. This is where the 105/115 series story began and consequently, these are often valued higher than any other Spiders in this series. This Duetto for sale in New York certainly catches your eye with its Pine Green paintwork and Cromodora alloys.

1969 Alfa Romeo Spider finished in Verde Pino (Pine Green) with Black interior. Fitted with it's original 1750 twin overhead cam engine and upgraded with twin Weber carburetors, this Pininfarina designed Alfa is one of the most affordable timeless classics on the market. Other Alfa models have already reached the stratosphere and the Boat Tail design, available for only a few years will surely follow. This beautiful five speed example is rust free and comes with five spoke Cromodora alloy wheels, four wheel disc brakes, fresh Pirelli tires, wood steering wheel and more. The we featured last week had a Buy It Now price of $20,000. That car had about 20,000 less miles on the clock and was in a little bit better shape. For the shrinking violet, the Verde Inglese paintwork might be a little more desirable, but at the current asking price, this car is priced a little bit high. Typically, anywhere between $13,000 to $16,000 is what a Spider Veloce of this vintage will bring.

Over the past decade, the Duetto has steadily increased in value, approaching territory normally reserved for its forebear, the Giulietta Spider. I'd suspect the reserve on this car is somewhere in the low $30k range, with the seller hoping to get around $35,000. Anything approaching $40,000 these days is reserved for the truly exceptional, concours quality Duettos.

1980 Fiat 124 Spider

Like the Alfa Romeo GTV6 we featured earlier in the week, the Fiat 124 Spider is an excellent way of getting into the classic Italian car hobby without a big outlay of cash. In addition to reasonable values, it won’t break the bank when it comes to parts and upkeep, as support for this roadster in the enthusiast community is fairly strong and they are relatively simple cars to begin with.

This 124 Spider for sale in Arizona was brought to our attention by our reader Michael has had a recent engine overhaul and has done away with the large and somewhat ungainly US market bumpers from the period.

This price for this Spider is not too unreasonable considering the engine work and maintenance done, as most 124 Spiders in good, driver quality condition will range between $6,000 and $9,000. A low mileage, concours quality Spider might set you back closer to what the average is for a Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spider. More information on why the engine overhaul was done would be welcome, but this looks like a fun little piece for the warmer months coming up here in the Northeastern US.

1996 Ferrari F355 Spider

It's often said that clothes make the man. For me, colors make the car. The F355 was the last of the wedge shaped mid-engined V8 Ferraris and in Le Mans blue with a bright red interior and canvas roof, this Spider is striking. For sale in California, this Ferrari is made even more attractive by eschewing the F1 gearbox in favor of the traditional 6-speed manual.

This is perhaps the rarest and most striking of all F355 Ferrari Spiders. It is the only known Le Mans Blue with a Bordeaux interior in the world in this configuration. The only other known Le Mans Blue with a Bordeaux interior is located in England and it is right and drive and has the terribly slow F1 transmission. This is a classic color combination that was very popular in the 50s and 60s and found on period Ferraris and Maserati.

The typical shrinking leather dash on the F355 was just addressed with thousands spent on new leather. Similarly, the red leather cover for the top is also new. The red leather interior, including the very expensive option of a full red leather dash and matching steering wheel, is in excellent condition as are the beautifully contrasting navy carpets with matching Ferrari original navy floor mats.

A full belt service was just performed in March of 2013 and the Ferrari is running flawlessly. The top was serviced and is working as it should. The top is navy blue. I have known of this car since 2005 when it was for sale in Greenwich CT by Hunting Ridge Motors. (I even have photos from when the dealer offered the car for sale back then.) They sold the car to a gentleman in California. He proceeded to hit the curb with the right rear wheel and cause damage to the front bumper on the lower left side. This bent the lower control arm and the drive shaft. For reasons unknown to me, the owner was paid off and the car then sold at an insurance auction for a very substantial sum several years ago. I attended the auction but was outbid. There was no body damage and no mechanical damage.

The damage was very typical for performance cars that owners often fishtail when applying too much throttle, e.g., bending a lower control arm and damaging a wheel on the right rear. Inspections are welcome. See for yourself how nice a car this is with just 17k miles! And she drives like she has only 17k miles. Tight and solid! The 355 is a great investment. It's the end of the Enzo era inspired cars and they made very few with just over 3k spiders being made for the world. Compare that to the 360 where Ferrari made more than 13,000 of that model! This is the end of the small, svelte go kart like handling Ferraris.

It sounds more like an F1 car than any other Ferrari (except the F1 cars of course). It has 5 valve per cylinder. It is the last of the Ferrari with a manual transmission and a true throttle cable as opposed to indirect drive by wire found in the 360 and later cars. It is the best shifting, best driving true sports car from Ferrari.

The 458 is a sweet ride but it is over $200k, only comes with an automatic transmission, doesn't sound as good as the F355, and arguably as a spider doesn't look as good as the F355. If you are wanting a true classic yet modern Ferrari experience, the F355 is the only car that fits the bill. Fast, fun, sounds great, great to look at, limited production. These cars will only appreciate. Spring is just around the corner. Miss this one and you miss this irreplaceable color combination in a low mileage classic. Manual and tool kit included.

High retail for these F355 Spiders is running in the $65,000 to $75,000 range, so this F355 is priced attractively, especially considering the mileage, transmission and, for me, irresistible color combination. These F355s have aged gracefully and I doubt that they'll sink in value much more. If you have the means, now is the time to snag one.
