1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV

The 105/115 series GTV coupe is one of Alfa Romeo's high points. Timeless Bertone styling along with a lively chassis and engine cemented this car's status with collectors and enthusiasts. By the time the mid seventies rolled around, the GTV was on its last legs with the introduction of the 2000 GTV. This GTV for sale in New York is a two owner original example of this model at its zenith.

1974 Alfa Romeo GTV. Two Owners, 41,000 Original Miles, Original Colors, Original Interior, Excellent Example. This beautiful '74 GTV is Amaranth Red (an Aubergine color) over a Light Tan interior, the original colors. The car is believed to have had only two owners and just a single repaint. It was a dry southern car that does not exhibit any of the typical rust or ugly patching we so often find on Alfas of this era (or Alfas of any era, really). The car retains what appears to be its original interior, which is in great condition. It is currently showing 41,000 miles, which we also believe to be original. The car also retains its original SPICA injection system and runs and drives very well. It is equipped with four brand new Alloy GTA style wheels on Pirellis. This is an excellent unmolested, honest and original GTV that represents a very high fun to dollar ratio.

Given the condition and provenance of this car, the reserve is probably lying somewhere in the $25,000 to $35,000 range, as is the norm with these late model GTVs as of late. These are fantastic practical classics and I must say hats off to the two previous owners, as this car has been given the love and care it deserves.

1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

The Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 was the ultimate expression of the type 105, succeeding the GTV 1750 in 1971. These are some of the most handsome coupes that Alfa Romeo has ever produced. Not a flamboyant design, but so utterly tasteful that to this day, they still look fresh. This 1974 GTV 2000 for sale in Texas is a tasty little number, with Panasport wheels that compliment the clean, silver bodywork.

These days, a good GTV 2000 will bring around $25,000 to $30,000 on average, and this well kept example shouldn't be too far out of that range. These cars make great practical classics, as a well sorted one can be reliable enough for regular use while offering up enough performance to keep up with modern day traffic.

1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

The Alfa Romeo type 105 is a perennial favorite of Alfisti. This coupe's handsome Bertone lines and rorty twin cam engine made for a very attractive, rear-drive motoring experience. The 2000 was the final iteration of these beloved coupes. This 1973 GTV 2000 was imported from Italy ten years ago and has racked up a couple of first place awards at car shows.

This is an original 1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000, purchased in Florence Italy in 2002. Car was in storage for 21 years in original owners garage. I purchased it from the second owner which had just recently purchased it but had to sell it due to his upcoming wedding and needed the money. As you can see in the pictures the European model has a few different option than the north American version. It comes with dellorto twin carbs, higher performance exhaust manifold, no side lights on the side body in the rear of the car and small round side lights in the front rather than the rectangular front and back on the N. A. version. Lighter weight doors, pivoting front lights (small lever located under the main lights that allow them to pivot up and down to compensate for when you have extra weigh in the back seats. All the instruments are in Italian writing.

The car is all original, never any accident, no rust with original air conditioning (very rare in Italy), everything works on the car. The second owner installed a pull out radio with electric antenna and made a new back tray to install the rear speakers, I have the original tray untouched without any holes for speakers. When I got the car I decided to rebuild the engine due to it being in stored for so many years. Engine was running fine when I purchased it in Florence. I changed all the gaskets, install high compression pistons 10.41, light weight flywheel & electronic distributor and coil.

I also installed performance springs and shocks, Koni in the front belstein in the rear, also polyurethane suspension bushing, cross- drilled brake rotors, stebro stainless steel exhaust great sound. I have all the original parts that come with car. Paint is in great shape very minor chips and scratches. Original owner's manual in Italian, plus also a second one in English writing showing all the specs for the euro model. Car comes with the original period after market Peronal 5 star mags (this is the same company that supplied the steering wheels for Alfa Romeo) and almost new 205/60R14 tires , also yellow fog lights (white ones also included).

Car ran great and runs even better with the upgrades, great acceleration and very smooth with a great sound, rarely listen to the radio when driving. The car won First place in the Alfa Romeo Owners Club 2004 National Convention in Manchester New Hampshire in the 105/115 coupes category and 1st place at the 2004 Tutto Italiano in Brookline Mass. in the Alfa Romeo category. Unfortunately I rarely use the car, last long trip was in 2004 and I need the storage, very sad to see it go. Needs a great home to some one that will appreciate it and enjoy it.

Also comes with the car is the original owner's manual in Italian writing along with a second manual (english version) for the same euro spec car. Car has NO rust as first mentioned and has never been patched up due to rust issues, I have never driven it in the rain.

Pervinca Blue is a color not often seen on the GTV and I think it looks fantastic, with a bit more depth to it than your typical metallic blue. With the important mechanical bits addressed, I would suspect this GTV will fetch somewhere in the low to high $20,000 range, which is where many of these coupes are trading hands these days. Given this is a European market car, it might even bring a bit more to the right buyer.

1979 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT

Instead of locking them away in a museum or private collection, vintage racing is a popular way to combine your enthusiasm for classic cars while enjoying them as they were meant to be. It also gives the general public an idea of what these cars looked like in action when they were new. The Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT is a popular car for amateur competition, thanks in part to their stout engines and superbly balanced chassis. This particular GT for sale in Richmond, Virginia has been set up to resemble rally cars from the period and has had a slew of appealing modifications carried out.

I am relisting this car as the buyer sent a deposit but did not complete the transaction nor did he respond to my emails. Had he responded with a legitimate reason, I would have refunded the deposit. But anyway, I am in a serious bind for space so I must sell by beloved Alfetta GT coupe. It has a fresh 2 liter Twin Spark engine equipted with Columbo e Barianni cams, new piston and liner set, EB Spares headers, Jim Steck 8 wire distributor and 45 mm Webers....all new within the last 36 months. It has only been driven on nice weekends since. The chassis is rust free havin been garaged its entire life. For you guys that know Alfas, I have included pics of all the usual rust spots. The suspension has IAP rear springs, Spax shocks, GTV6 front torsion bars and the bushings have been renewed with Delron where possible. It was fitted years ago with a Shankle shift kit. The car is lowered about 1" in the back and 2" in the front. The brakes were rebuilt about 18 months ago including new brake hoses and a new clutch assembly was fitted. The wheels are period correct 7X15 Ronals as was fitted to Alfa's rally cars of the period and consistent with this car's rally motif. It has a stainless Euro rear bumper and I have the front Euro bumper if the buyer prefers it to the lights.

Please note that it has not been adapted to the US spec front mounts but it goes with the car. The car was painted 2 years ago and the paint is in very good order and shows very well. At that time the large USA spec side markers were replaced with Euro units. The car was a 1st place winner in the only show it's been in. The interior has new new grey carpet and new after market seats in black with red stitching with the doors upholstered to match. The sunroof doesn't leak and the mechanism is in good order. Its a 35 year old Alfa so its got a few niggles: the right turn signal is not working, there are cracks in the dash, the drivers door doesn't lock with the key and there may be a few other minor issues I've forgotten. Having said that, all the big money has been spent on this car and what it needs are easy fixes. Its a strong runner,a ton of fun to drive and cruises effortlessly at all legal speeds. I truly hate to part with it but I must. I have some travel over the next few days so if you have questions, please be patient and I will get back to you ASAP. Thanks for your interest.

The driving lights, bumper deletion and black chin spoiler give this GTV an aggressive stance. Normally, modified Alfettas are not my favorite, but this one, with its lack of rust, Twin Spark engine and tasteful upgrades ticks all the right boxes. It’s a shame the owner had to relist this car due to an uninterested party, as this is a vintage Alfa that could be enjoyed both on the road and in competition and deserves its due respect. For the work that has been done to it, not to mention the condition, this is an economical way to sample the Italian classic car experience.

1975 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000

The 2000 was the final evolution of the famed GTV coupe. Introduced in 1971, the twin cam four cylinder engine produced 130 horsepower and came equipped with SPICA fuel injection in the US and Canada. This fuel injection system made a name for itself for being rather unreliable. Other markets were fortunate in that carburetors were the fuel delivery system of choice and with them came a higher horsepower figure of 150. This GTV 2000 is one of those carbureted cars, coming from Europe with a rare factory sunroof.

1975 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 Euro. This is the very rare 1975 production year Euro Bertone designed GTV 2000, VIN # AR105300004710, with the Alfa factory Dellorto twin carbs, (NOT the troublesome U.S. Spica F.I.), finished in the rare European Champagne color with black vinyl interior; this color was not available to the U.S. market. The paint is mostly original, and near perfect, and is best described as "bronze," and all glass was taken out during a factory color respray. This rare GTV also has the rare manual sliding factory sunroof, not available to the U.S. Market.

These GTVs were not imported to the US market after 1974. European GTV’s are faster, handle and look better then the U.S. GTV 2000’s. They weigh about 145 lb’s lighter then the U.S. GTV versions. You can feel the difference at speed. This rare original unmolested GTV is owned by a career Military Officer and Classic car collector, who recently brought it back from Europe. It is rust free, with exception of two spots on the roof, which could be easily re-painted.

The interior is very good with original glass all around. The body is near perfect, with NO door dings (see photos) and all the gaps are true and straight, with no past accident damage. This GTV is totally original and unmolested! It has the original wheels, with GTV stainless steel caps, which have just been newly powder-coated. It drives beautifully, tight, no squeaks, and stiff suspension. It has a clear title and a matching numbers with the ORIGINAL engine, 143 K original Kilometers-NOT miles!

Attached pictures are included of the shock towers, front and rear floor pans-both sides, arches, all 4 jack points, and door jambs which show no rust. Gaps are straight and true, both doors open/close and lock easily, and the steering wheel is the original factory Alfa Romeo "Personal" wheel. The GTV has just been serviced (this week-8 July 2012) with new fluids, including oil filter, lubed, and a minor tune-up performed: four new platinum plugs and NEW plug wires were installed. It also has a brand new German Bosch 12 volt battery. Tires are all-matching German-made Uni-Royal Rallye 195/70 R 14’s with about 70% tread left. The rare factory sliding manual roof is easy and fast to use, with ease of operation!

The Radio is the Euro Phillips radio, but I have never used it, preferring the music of the 2 liter carbureted engine. An Alfa radio Plate should replace it. The original dash is perfect. The door handles work easily with no internal cracks (a common GTV curse that are expensive to replace). All lights work, horn, turn signals, brake lights, E. flasher, heater, fan, windshield wipers, dash gauges, and rear window heater all work properly. The engine is very good, no oil leaks, excellent compression, no smoke, very high oil pressure (see pictures of gauges at speed of 70 MPH), excellent clutch (no slippage), superior perfect 5 speed transmission with no slippage, grinding, or noise. or popping out of gear and 1st to 2nd is smooth!

All gauges work properly, and please note this model has the rare under dash factory installed Clock and factory installed Ammeter (see pics). Also note, since it is a "Euro GTV" it does NOT have the ugly side markers. Also please note that all gauges are Euro, and the speedometer is in Kilometers. This GTV is a wonderful original driver’s car. Superb, very Fast and sunny with the manual sliding sunroof, dependable, performance oriented, and "1 of a kind!" You will never find another.

As the seller, VERY regretfully, I am selling this very rare GTV due to my wife’s illness. I will request from buyer a "buy back option," at a later date, should buyer decide to resell this rare GTV in the future (if agreeable). There is probably no other original European GTV 2000 like this one available in the U.S.! I would like to own it again.

After reading the story of this car, I can't help but have a heavy heart. We all go through difficult times in our lives and I hope the seller's wife makes a speedy recovery. This sale also goes to show that certain cars have a lot of meaning, which is evidenced by the fact the owner seeks to buy it back someday if the new owner ever decides to sell it. These days, GTV 2000s average around $22,000 to $27,000. The best examples can reach into the $30,000 range, and you can find tired runners between $10,000 and $15,000. If I had to peg a value on this one, it would probably be right around $25,000, as the sunroof and European trim make this an especially desirable GTV.

1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV

The Alfa 2000 GTV (GT Veloce) was the successor to the 1750.  With subtle styling changes, the 2000 GTV is still unmistakably from the house of Bertone. The 2000 GTV featured a 1.9L DOHC engine with mechanical fuel injection that produced 150 hp. Popular in racing circles, these cars continued Alfas racing heritage through the 70’s.

This well-kept example for sale in Scottsdale, AZ is a shining example of why the '70s alfas are so iconic. The red over black interior is pure italian sports car.

Here is a gorgeous 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 that looks absolutely gorgeous and runs beautifully!!! This Alfa is finished in a beautiful Red over a black interior, sitting on a great looking set of factory wheels. This great piece of Italian motoring history has been owned and driven its entire life in California!!! The car runs great and the classic 2000cc twin cam four cylinder has been lovingly looked after and comes with TONS of receipts and maintenance records. This car has been the subject of an on going restoration since 2004 and has been driven sparingly since. The car runs fantastic and has that great classic Italian car sound. The cars exterior looks excellent with a beautiful paint job and very nice chrome. The black interior is in excellent condition and the seats are quite comfortable. The car is in excellent shape inside and out. Best of all this is a documented California Car with a RUST FREE undercarriage. These Alfas are great modes of transportation and were ahead of their time when new, from the twin cam 4 cylinder engine to the 5 speed gear box. These cars were fantastic on the track and are still dominant in vintage racing today. This Alfa Romeo is a great collector's item, that is surely to appreciate in value over the years. This car is a great driving car and is lots of fun to drive on a nice spring day.

Admittedly, I'm not an Italian car guy, sure I pine over Ferraris, Lambos, and a Lancia here and there,but have nevre really followed the other Italian Marques. Since fellow contributor Paul has been posting here, I've been introduced to a wider array of these cars, and have grown to appreciate them, and this beautiful 2000 GTV is no exception.

Average retail on the 1974 2000 GTV is just north of $28,000, and considering the range of vehicles out there this example is well above average. This car is a great example of a solid driver condition car, and at a Buy it Now prive of $24,750, this would make a great addition to any collection.

1971 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750

The Alfa Romeo GTVs of the late 1960s and early 1970s are some of the most beloved classic Alfa Romeos. These coupes were direct competition to the BMW 2002, as they offered lively four cylinder, rear-wheel drive performance in a tidy package. In an era of muscle cars, it took a different kind of customer to buy one of these cars. One who favored handling and engineering over outright straight line performance. We’ve featured a few exceptional examples of these GTVs here at CICFS, but this example for sale in New Jersey could be best described as a driver. With a bit of rust here and wear there, it’s the perfect car for someone looking for a driver to enjoy or a solid basis for a light restoration.

1971 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750. Rare yellow exterior with black interior. 1750 CC 4 cylinder engine. 5-speed manual transmission. 36,000 miles. Runs and drives great for a 41 year old car. This is your chance to own a very original and nice condition Alfa Romeo GTV. This is the sports coupe that everyone wants. It is even more desirable and harder to find than the 2000CC version. This car is very solid with one repaint to original color. It does have some sections of rust down low that isn't that noticable, but please note in my pictures. It also does have some touchups on vehicle. The chrome is in nice shape. The interior is all orginial. The floors are solid. The carpet is in good condition. The seats have a few cracks and could be recovered to make them perfect. There is some small sections of tape right now covering small cracks. The speedometer and odometer work, but the tachometer does not.

The engine runs as it should. It sounds great with ANSA exhaust with polished tips out the back. A recent tune up including fuel filter and oil change was just performed. The brakes have a good pedal and stops great. The caliper on one brake does drag ever so slightly and may free up with more use. The tires are matching Perelli P600 all around with plenty of rubber. It is also missing one center hub cap. All exterior lights(headlamps, turn signals, and brake lights) work as they should. This is a fun car that can be enjoyed as it is, or taken to the next level with very little effort.

A decent GTV 1750 runner can range in price anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000, depending on how rust free the example is, along with mileage and maintenance performed. I would say around $13,000 to $14,000 will probably take this one, if indeed the reserve is met. If you are looking for a usable classic and the 2002 seems just a bit too mainstream, a GTV in this period shade of yellow might just be the answer.

Beautiful 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 in excellent condition. This Nero Black exterior over Brown interior has been a one owner car since new, This Alfa is 100% accident free! By its overall condition, it was very well cared for. The paint is in very nice condition, the body is in excellent shape, the Interior is in amazing condition. Mechanically this Alfa is great with only 50k original miles on the engine and transmission. This GTV needs nothing but a fun driver. All services are up to date, Everything works like it should. This GTV is in very good condition and a great driver quality vehicle. This Alfa is by no means a concourse vehicle, but shows beautiful. The new owner will receive with the car, clean and clear title, some service records and some new and used parts. Please note: inspections are more than welcome before the end of auction, at any Alfa shop of your choice.

I like this GTV better than the one featured last month because it has a little more patina and encourages potential buyers to use it as intended. However, it is still a very much show quality vehicle. The reserve is probably hovering in the $20,000 to $25,000 range, and I'd say, for the originality and presentation, anything up to the low $30,000 range wouldn't be out of the question. Overall, this is a nice, honest example of one of the best classic Alfa coupes.

1982 Alfa Romeo GTV6 2.5 Balocco S.E.

The Alfa Romeo GTV6 is a car noted for being one of the last Alfa Romeos to be designed before the Fiat takeover in 1986. With a 13 year production run, this rear drive coupe was a mainstay in the Alfa Romeo lineup. In 1982, the limited edition Balocco edition bowed, mainly a trim package named after the famous Alfa Romeo test track, later used by Fiat for their proving grounds. This particular Balocco has had an engine transplant, a turbocharged 3.0 V6 from a 164 sedan.

Alfa Red with black leather interior, 5-speed, two owner Texas car, correct Balocco SE trim including numbered dash emblem, original 2.5 liter V6 (with an arguably inadequate 160 horsepower and 157 lb-ft of torque) was swapped out and replaced with a 3.0 liter V6 from an Alfa 164L (an AR06412 block) and then a large turbo was added to it (likely ~270 horsepower and ~270 lb-ft of torque now) to create a true Italian tuner car, original paint, four new high performance 215 mm tires on 17-inch Serpent Autosport Type 3 five-lug 5-spoke alloys (very tasty upgrade compared to stock 15s), significantly lowered, original manual sunroof, inboard rear brakes, and De Dion rear axle, super light sports coupe at only 2,702 pounds new. Only 4,674 GTV6s were sold new in the United States over its 6 year model run (fewer than 800 per model year) of which only 350 were Balocco SEs in 1982. This is an extremely rare, desirable coupe. Price of $7,900 is flexible, but is already way below cost of engine swap plus original low mile donor car.

The turbocharger slapped onto the later V6 engine concerns me, as there is no way of telling how professional of an installation this is. The updated wheels give this GTV6 a bit of a meaner stance and the fact that it has the original paint leads me to believe it is more honest of a car than I originally had thought. It is a bit pricey at $7,900, but being the rare Balocco version, it is one of a few hundred examples produced. Provided this car is well sorted and can provide a modicum of reliability, it would certainly be a sleeper, not only with the power but the legendary rear drive Alfa chassis.

We've featured a handful of Alfa Romeo GTV coupes on CICFS as of late, however, none as nice or original as this car, currently for sale in California. This GTV is a one owner, original car with a shade over 34,000 miles on the clock. Yes, you read that right. From the factory applied cosmoline underneath to the spare tire having never touched the road, this is a time warp car if I've ever seen one.

This is a one owner from new 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000, it was delivered new in Oakland California by Ken Block Alfa Romeo, 3074 Broadway, Oakland, California, It has covered just 38,629 miles from new, a truly incredible car, having never seen rain or inclement weather of any sort, the single owner was absolutely fastidious in keeping his Alfa in pristine condition

Documentation

If you like documentation then this is the car for you, he kept every piece of paper from the original sales contract, window sticker, sales brochure, even the card of the selling salesman. There is a plastic sleeve with all of the yearly registration documents including the first "drive away" permit, Xeroxed receipt for purchase and of course the Alfa Romeo owners manual plus the Service book complete with the credit card style owners identification. There are bills for service work and repairs spanning the years plus a note book annotating service work and mileage in the 80's.There are two Concours trophies from 1977 and 1978, one for first place the other second, these are carefully wrapped in tissue paper. In 1985 the chosen marque of the Monterey Historics was Alfa Romeo and members of the Alfa Romeo Club were invited to take part in the parade of cars driven on the famous circuit, each car was given a large race style sticker with a race style number which was displayed on the front hood, after the parade the sticker was removed, carefully reapplied to its backing and preserved in the file of documents, there is also a brochure for the 85 event with a pull out supplement detailing the owners club cars that took part in the parade, this is also included

Underside

As you can see from the pictures the underside is rust free and original, all of the factory applied Cosmoline is still there covering the sub frame, floors, inner arches, all panels are still in their white paint under the Cosmoline, the suspension is black, the Alfa Romeo white lettering on the shock absorbers is clearly visible and the nuts and bolts still hold their zinc plating. The drive train is clean and tidy with no visible leaks, the rear axle complete with limited slip diff is in its original alloy finish, the gearbox and motor look factory fresh. The sump is protected by the steel fence style sump guard which I am told is an option. Please note that the dealer "window sticker" is included.

Interior

A remarkably well preserved, original interior, the dashboard has no cracks, the door panels are superb, the factory carpets are fresh and black and there is no fading to any of the black finishes. The instruments are clear and bright and all of the switches and gauges work faultlessly, the center tunnel covers are without cracks or flaws and the wood paneling is perfect. There is the addition of a radio-cassette in the dashboard along with a switch under the steering column for a european style rear light. The stitching on the seats is excellent, there are no rips or tears son any of the sides or surfaces. The seat belts work as they should. The only items at fault are the gear lever shroud and the handbrake shroud, they are both torn.

Engine Bay

The motor compartment is clean and tidy, it gleams in its Alfa Romeo white surrounding the lovely twin cam 2.0 power plant, the Spica injection is complete and works flawlessly. The underside of the hood displays the correct factory stickers along with the two concours badges. The original Spica fuel Injection system is still present and works perfectly. The windshield washer bag is present along with the original radiator showing the factory paint markings on it's top surface. Inside the hood all of the original spot welds are visible, the stickers are still under the hood as you would expect.

Trunk

Simply superb, it could be two years old, the original floors are without equal, the paint is superb even in the wheel well and the spare wheel wears its original Michelin XWX tire which has never seen the road. The unused jack is there along with the correct factory toolkit

Bodywork

This car gleams from top to bottom, to say "rust-free" would be an understatement, I cannot find one single rust bubble anywhere, I believe this must be one of the finest GTV 2000s available for sale today. The spot welds are clearly visible on all panels, inside the front and rear hood, the rockers and inside the wheel arches, these are impossible to duplicate and are never seen on restored cars. The sides are flat and smooth without door dings or waves, the gaps are all perfect apart from a slight variation behind the passenger door, it looks like there may have been a dent there at some stage. I bought it from the owners son who assured me that the paint was all original apart from the front hood which had been repainted after it was scratched, this may well be but I feel certain that after forty years it must have been painted, but it's such a superb car and the finish so dazzling that its really hard to tell, I can find no sign of overspray or masking, the front and rear screens appear never to have never been out and it has the characteristic darkening of the paint where it has kissed up against the rubber. The passenger front fender has definitely had some paint below the swage line and backward of the side marker, it is a slightly different shade. The brightwork is absolutely straight and perfect, the bumpers are correct stainless steel and are razor straight, all badges are excellent, all lights clear and bright. The rear signal units were replaced for European spec. orange lenses, the originals are included in their proper Alfa Romeo parts bags, the plastic badge on the trunk was changed for an earlier enameled one, again the original is included.

With about three days left in the auction, we are past $30,000, with a buy it now price of $41,999. While most GTVs of this vintage sell anywhere from $20,000 to $35,000 depending on mileage and condition, it doesn't make the price of this impressive coupe seem unreasonable. The only problem is, of course, do you drive it, or do you continue to use it sparingly as the original owner has? These cars are meant to be driven, and given that reality, regrettably, this would not be the car for me. I'd rather have a car I could use without feeling guilty every time I left the garage. Still, there is no denying just how exceptional this car is. Kudos to the original owner for preserving one of Alfa Romeo's best coupes.
