Like the LM002A we featured on Tuesday, the Espada was one of those oddball Lamborghinis. Other than its outlandish styling, the concept of this four seater GT car seems a distant relic from the supercars that make up the lineup today. Even though this low slung coupe may be long forgotten, it represents one of the best values in terms of classic Lamborghinis today. This silver example for sale in Nevada needs some attention but nothing that would scare off the more serious classic Italian car enthusiasts.

1973 Espada III, 2-door, 4 passanger coupe (really seats 4 adults) very good color combo, it always atrracts a lot of attention. Car was restored in 2000: engine, suspension, brakes all rebuilt; new paint and new full leather interior. Transmission was NOT rebuilt so 1st/2nd syncros are weak (double clutch it). Car only driven summers, mostly to car shows. Car took 1st place at Concourso Italiano in '08 - Espada/Islaro/Jerama class. Car has been stored for two years, so probably needs tuneup and tires are well worn.

With the transmission needing attention and the added issues of worn tires and a tune up needed, I’d suspect this Espada may bring in the neighborhood of $45,000 to $55,000, as that would leave room for such maintenance costs. It would be worth spending the time and money to bring this brute back to tip top condition. These V12 tourers represent a period in Lamborghini’s history when more conventional, four seater sports cars would give way to the wild and brash Countach and smaller, V8 engined Uracco and Jalpa that would carry the company through turbulent times in the 1980s. For a V12 Italian exotic, it’s certainly an uncommon bargain in comparison to its contemporaries.

1987 Bertone X1/9

Summer weather is here, and this Bertone X1/9 is the more unorthodox choice for the open air motorist. Introduced in the early 1970s as the Fiat X1/9, this car was the replacement for the rear engine 850 Spider. This was a radical departure with its four cylinder engine mounted amidships, something that, other than the Porsche 914, was normally reserved for more exotic iron. The X1/9 survived in the US market through 1987, even after Fiat pulled out of the market in 1982. Bertone took over the marketing and importation of the car from there and quite a few were sold thereafter. These late X1/9s are quite affordable these days and I’ve seen a few out there in good condition. For the price of a used economy car, you can have something that everyone on the street will want to stop and talk about with you. The best X1/9s will hover around $10,000 to $14,000, so I'd suspect this restored example has a reserve set somewhere around that range.

1969 Lamborghini P400S

While Italian cars are known for their dramatics and flair, perhaps the most arresting of all of them is the Lamborghini Miura. It's amazing to think that this car is almost 50 years old, as its design still looks out of this world to this day. This particular Miura for sale in Texas has been restored and is a numbers matching example.

Lamborghini Houston proudly offers our superb 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400S restored to SV Specifications by renowned expert Gary Bobileff. This Miura, serial # 3952, is finished in its original colors of Verde Miura exterior over a Skai Beige (Caramel) and Testa diMoro (Dark Brown) interior. It was production # 337 and was completed at the factory on March 6, 1969 as a left-hand drive version and delivered to Italian dealer Lamborauto in Turin, Italy. It is a correct, numbers matching example with its original engine #2871.

Miura P400S #3952 was owned in the early 1980s by race car driver Ted Titmus from Southern California. During his ownership, the car was brought to Bill DeCar of Bill’s Auto Shop in the Los Angeles area for restoration work. The project stalled and the car sat in the shop until Bill decided to buy the car for himself. He was never able to complete the project though. In 2009, Gary Bobileff purchased the car for himself and began restoration work. While undergoing restoration, the Lamborghini was purchased by a new owner who requested additional, popular SV Specification modifications be performed as well. These upgrades included flared rear fenders to precise SV dimensions to accommodate the wider SV spec wheels. Mechanicals were rebuilt and a split sump lubrication system was fitted separating the engine and transmission fluids as employed on the original SV. This is a step many P400 and P400S owners choose to take when performing this level of restoration. This engine also features handmade, nickel-plated velocity stacks to aid breathing and give an even more aggressive look. The new owner further requested a correctly modified nose with new front and rear bumpers be installed, plus new taillights and front lamps per SV specifications. The car was refinished in its original, striking color of Verde Miura. The original interior colors were used; however, genuine supple leather was chosen in place of the original leatherette material.

This is an extremely rare opportunity to obtain such a unique piece of automotive history. This Miura has seen less than 100 miles since its complete restoration. The restoration work and tasteful SV upgrades performed by Gary Bobileff are nothing short of spectacular with particular attention spent to detail and superior drivability.

For a good Miura with provenance, about a half million dollars is the entry point for such a vehicle. Given the quality of restoration and the fact that this is a numbers matching car in its original color, I'd suspect this car will sell for somewhere north of $600,000.

To this day, these cars have a look about them that combines the best of modern and classic styling and can be run fairly easily on a budget, as they have a strong enthusiast backing. This GTV for sale in Texas has been recently restored and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

You are bidding on a 1969 Alfa Romeo GTV with 85,526 actual miles. This is one of Bobcor Alfa's classic restoration projects and it is a beautiful and absolutely spectacular car. A must have for any car lovers! Beautiful 60's design (instead of the outdated 70's look)

I purchased this car from the person who did the full restoration through Bobcor Alfa. The restoration was done in Florida where the relatively clean body was disassembled, all rust repaired (without bondo), and a classic paint (Urban Green Clearcoat A04) was applied. The car was then reassembled using either new or cleanup parts. The interior was done all over from brand new parts and super clean and was left beautiful.
The engine and transmission were built by Richards Stephens. He has been building Alfa engines for 30+ years and is one of the best in the country. The engined is dialed in very nicely. The transmission was worked on as well as new brakes, suspension, clutch, donut, and almost every other part was replaced new. The previous owner who did all these repairs spent over $30,000 in making the car perfect. This is a classic beauty, you won't find many others like this.

I bought the car in 2008, and the restoration had been done a year before. The previous owner only used the car for short weekend rides and I have only put a little over 1,000 miles in it since then. It has always been kept in the garage and is polished and well cared for. The engine runs very clean and starts up nicely. Mechanically my maintenance has been done by Elite Imports in Austin, TX who specializes in Alfa's. The car has no air conditioning, you can always put an after market one but it's usually not advised.

The only addition I did to the car was to have a CD-player and speakers installed. They can be removed if you don't like the look (I've considered it myself since I'm a little bit of a purist, but again having music is nice for the weekend rides).

Some little details that need to be mentioned about the car:

1. There is a small dink on the both the driver and passenger side of the doors. This have been made from the doors opening all the way. (Pictured below)
2. There's a short scratch below the passenger side door handle. (Pictured below)
3. There is a small scratch on the trunk area. (Pictured below)

Other than these minor blemishes I have not have any problems with the car and the engine runs very smooth. The car was completely gone through from top to bottom by one of the most reputable Alfa restoration shops. Vehicle history sates salvaged but knowing Bobcor and his reputation, this did not affect the quality of the car.

This car is one of a kind:
-Engine runs great, even when cold. Once it warms up it is an incredible car. I was tempted to take it to the race track but never did. But it runs that nice.
-Tires and wheels are like new
-Handles like a dream
-Interior is beautiful with classic 60's design, instead of the outdated 70's outlook.
-Transmission shifts very nicely
-Oil pressure, water temp, etc. are right where they should be.
-Steering wheel is beautiful
-Brand new battery

Deposit and Payment:

I require a $500 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Full payment is required within 7 days of the end of the auction (unless I approve otherwise over email) in cashier's check or direct wire transfer. Bidder is expected to have financing/payment ready at the end of the auction. Transportation is buyer's responsibility, but I can assist. For out-of-state people we can also use escrow.com under buyer's expense if you want an even more secure transaction (I've only used them outside of ebay in the past since ebay is itself insured).

To answer a few questions from people:

1. During the restoration it looks like the front and rear bumpers and the rear taillights were from a 1970 or 71 model. But the car is a '69 model.
2. The doors need some adjustment on the closing latch. They align perfectly, but they have to be closed hard. In specific the passenger side door sometimes I have to close it 2 or 3 times to get it to close completely.
3. I just looked at the old California registration card (not the title) and it has a line that says "PR/HIST: SALVAGED". Like I put it in the description. But the title says nothing about it, it's a clear title. Not sure what the registration means, but since it was a complete restoration for this car I don't think it matters if it was salvaged or not.
4. I will try to get more pictures from underneath. I will try to take the car to a shop and put it on the rails tomorrow or monday at the latest.

This car has a few flaws and I’d be a bit concerned about the salvage issue as described. Sometimes motor vehicle registries can be weird, but it is worth doing some research to see if there is anything to cause a potential owner to be alarmed. The asking price of $26,000 is about spot on for a good driver quality GTV, as an example like this will typically run you between $25,000 and $30,000.

1978 Ferrari 308GT4

The 308GT4 was a break from tradition for Ferrari. Not only was this the first mid-engined, V8 Ferrari, but the company employed Bertone instead of Pininfarina to handle the styling of this four seater sports car. The wedge shape would permeate throughout the Ferrari lineup for the next two decades. She is not new and hence not perfect and has imperfections here and there, scratches etc. Some or many things, items, fittings, features, mechanically and cosmetically may be worse and many will be better than you may expect ! never the less not perfect or new!

You average 308GT4 in good condition should run between $25,000 to $35,000. Given the bidding, I'd suspect final bidding will hover somewhere around $30,000. Even though the mileage can't be verified, it looks the part for a well kept, low mileage car. With the maintenance performed, it should help assuage some fears of impending doom, although an inspection prior to purchase with any vintage Ferrari would be a must.

Celebrity Owned: 1971 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750

Whenever I see a "celebrity car" advertised, it really doesn't do much to grab my attention. A lot of the folks in Hollywood aren't true car collectors; rather, it's all about badge and image when it comes to transportation. But, there are some noted car collectors in the world of television and film, such as Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld and the guy who owned this 1971 Alfa Romeo GTV 1750, Tim Allen.

To be honest, I wouldn't have normally associated Tim Allen with a GTV 1750, as he's known for his love of Detroit iron. But his petrolhead credibility has just gone up a few notches in my book with this car. These coupes are revered for their excellent handling and tidy good looks. For sale in Hollywood, California, this frame off restored GTV is certainly a car that you could consider well sorted.

This collector Alfa Romeo GTV 1750 is currently owned by celebrity, comedian and car connoisseur, Tim Allen. Known for his Blockbuster Movies and hit television shows “Home Improvement” and “Last Man Standing!" This car has resided in his collection for the last 7 years! He has finally decided to sell this Alfa GTV, to complete someone else’s collection.

Here is a chance to own a frame off restored vehicle with a celebrity provenance. This GTV only has 3000 miles since its restoration. When Tim bought this car seven years ago, this is what was done:

“Complete restoration done by an Engineer who started with an all original and never molested original car. Every suspension bushing, joint, bearing throughout the entire car was replaced. All components cleaned and painted or powder coated prior to reassembly. All new suspension is all adjustable, centerline springs, etc. Undercarriage is rust free and was cleaned and re-undercoated. All new rubber and seals, new window felts and channels. new speckled grey carpet kit, original dash without cracks, original wood, new speedo and tach cables, entirely new european taillight assemblies, original spare with jack, AR501 red paint, new period Daytonas and Yoko 205’s, original AM/FM push button radio that works.

Original 1750 that was rebuilt with Steve Hanniford head work (stage 5 includes intake manifold port machining), assembled with all new components (valves, HP Springs, followers, retainers, reliefs, Ingram HP FI pump (165-170hp), new fuel pump, throttle bodies rebuilt, new exhaust OEM with hangers, original exhaust manifolds ceramic coated, all SS hardware for reassembly, all recip components carefully hand balanced to 0.1 gram static, revs willingly to 7000 where the cams peak), flywheel machined to 15lbs (more to relieve stress risers in casting then weight), new pistons/liners (hastings rings, effective CR 10:1, stk 9.75 plus 10 mils off the head for a quarter point), flowed oil pump (meaning the oil pump intake was carefully shaped), all new chains, Ingram prepped 1750 rods (relieved, peened, bushed, new bolts and big nuts), all engine work done at Wes Ingram’s shop, compression delta P across all cylinders is 1 pound! recurved electronic Bosch with MSD multi-spark, entire cooling system with custom 3 row core adapted to original tanks, thermostatically controlled fan. Trans, driveline and rear-end inspected and rebuilt, new windshield (all other glass original).”

GTVs of this vintage that are restored or well-kept originals have always brought strong money. A good, driver quality vehicle in decent nick will probably hover somewhere around the $25,000 to $27,000 mark, but given the level of detail on this car, I'd suspect it will probably fetch somewhere around $35,000. For someone who is into these cars, the celebrity status is just a bit of icing on the cake. I do find it interesting, however, that in the world of showbusiness, comedians tend to have the best taste in cars.

The Fiat X1/9 is a good bargain for those looking to get into a modern Italian classic. The problem is these cars were fairly affordable when new, so many have been neglected. In addition, rust proofing wasn't as good 30 years ago as it is today. While it's hard to find an X1/9 in good nick, it's worth the hunt. The X1/9 can be a usable, fun collectable that can be run on a budget. This mildly modified X1/9 was brought to our attention by our reader Michael and appears to be a great example of a sports car that was ahead of its time when it replaced the 850 Spider in 1972.

A decent X1/9 will usually center on the $5,000 to $6,000 mark. We featured an X1/9 last year on offer at $7,000 from a private seller. It may not be stock, but the loss of the cumbersome crash bumpers is certainly a bonus both for aesthetics and weight. While many collectors may go the more traditional route of the Alfa Romeo Spider or Fiat 124 Spider, the X1/9 offers to take you down the road less traveled, offering traditional open roofed Italian motoring thrills with a bit of modern thought thrown in.

Inspired by the B.A.T. aerodynamic studies of Bertone, these special Giuliettas were coach built for buyers seeking to press something into competition. While slippery dynamics helped top speed, its weight held it back a bit. Now these Alfas are revered and valued accordingly. I've seen simple, non-descriptive ads, but this one takes the cake. For such an exceptional car, I would have hoped for a little more color. But no matter, I'll just sit back and enjoy looking at the pictures of this car. Sprint Speciales these days can bring anywhere from $150,000 to $200,000, so the asking price is about spot on for what we are dealing with. One thing is certain, whoever buys this car will be a star at the next local car show.

The Alfa Romeo GTV was a popular sports car of its time, but not offered to US customers were the smaller engined variants, such as the GT 1300. These were popular in markets where insurance and tax costs for larger engined vehicles were higher, such as Alfa's home market. This model we see here for sale in Florida is in good original condition. This is also one of the "step-front" models, as the leading edge of the hood sat a quarter inch higher than the nose of the car.

1969 Alfa Romeo 1.3L GT (Gran Turismo) Junior "scalino" (step nose). Equipped with a 1290cc Double Overhead Cam Inline 4 Cylinder gas engine. Body was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone. Vehicle weighs 2100 lbs. All original except for one exterior repaint in its rare and original color of Blu Francia/French Blue /Bleu France/Französisch Blau Paint Code(s): AR-342.

69,044 original miles (111,116 km), this car has never been restored and looks and drives like a new car. All matching numbers as per Alfa Romeo historical register in Milan, Italy. This last year step nose is an extremely rare find and we even managed to keep the original Italian "black plates" which were on this car from new !!! We are convinced there is not a second one like this in the USA.

Lately, I've come across a lot of the smaller engined Alfa Romeos that weren't originally sold in the US that have found there way to these shores. They seem to bring similar money to their larger engined siblings, especially if you can find one in good original shape. GT 1300s realistically range from around $15,000 to the high $20,000 range. Since the reserve isn't met at $20,000, I'd say the seller is looking for somewhere around $25,000. While originality is nice, there's plenty of GTV 1750 and 2000 coupes for sale out there for less money. If it was my money, I'd probably seek out one of those instead.

When people think of Lamborghini, they remember the greats such as the Miura, Countach and Diablo. Along with the early grand touring coupes and off-road LM002, there was the Jalpa, a derivative of the mid-engined V8 Urraco of the 1970s. A limited number of these sports cars were produced in an effort to bring Lamborghini ownership to a wider audience. This Jalpa for sale in New Orleans has under 20,000 miles on the clock and is for auction at no reserve.

1984 Lamborghini Jalpa

1984 Lamborghini Jalpa with Targa top and rear wing. This is one of an estimated 50 Jalpa's remaining. Only about 400 were ever built, and that was nearly three decades ago. I think this car is potential museum quality car with the original paint being in near perfect condition. There are no dents or scratches in the paint, nor have there been. The interior is all original and is supple with no cracks or tears.

The engine is a brand new rebuild from the leading Lamborghini Jalpa expert, at a cost of over $25,000.00. New clutch, and braided lines. Four two barrel carburetors. New powdercoated axles, stainless exhaust system, polished aluminum water tank and fuel filter and too much else to list. All new MSD electronics from ignition to alternator. All original wheels and brakes, with new coil over shocks from Italy. This is a California car, with no rust. Only driven 657 gentle miles a year since new (18,409 mi).

This is a rare opportunity to own a true piece of Lamborghini history in authentic original condition. There are approximately ten times more Countach than Jalpa's left in the world. Countach have now been listed for over $200,000.00 US and going up. There were 338 Miura's produced, which are similar production numbers to the Jalpa. They have been listed at over $1,000,000.00 US. Of the few left, this is by far the nicest Jalpa I have seen, and is offered here at a mere pittance of expected value.

Even though the Jalpa is just as rare as the Miura, the desirability isn't as high. That's not to say that the Jalpa is a bad car. It's just that the Miura was that good. The Jalpa represents the cheapest way into a Lamborghini short of a Pontiac Fiero based kit car, with prices starting in the low $30,000 range and sometimes reaching into $40,000 territory. These cars have a good bit of 1980s cool about them with their rear spoiler and flared bodywork.

As a Philadelphian, it would be remiss if I didn't mention the appearance the Jalpa made in Rocky IV, replete with the "You've Got a Friend in Pennsylvania" license plates that technically, were not grammatically incorrect but overly verbose:
