1991 Ferrari Testarossa

This 1991 Ferrari Testarossa for sale in Ohio represents the final year for the original, striking, wide-fendered design from the mid 1980s. This example is a European model that was originally delivered to Belgium and barring that the looks place this car two to three decades back, looks refreshingly modern in Grizio Metallic over red leather.

1991 Ferrari Testarossa Euro model. The Best rare color combo and the final year. This incredible car has just completed a thorough restoration to the highest standard. 38,000 miles fresh 30k engine out service. The body is straight as an arrow and the paint quality is superb. This Testarossa is straighter and has nicer paint quality than from the factory. Drivability is outstanding; everything works, as it should. The following is a partial list of new items that were installed. Never any damage or frame repair. Being a Euro VIN I could not enter into ebay correct VIN is ZFFAA17B000089266

1. Wheels were media blasted, powder coated twice and painted to original spec.
2. Every emblem on the car was replaced with new. (wheel center caps, pinan farina side emblems, Ferrari and Testarossa emblems, front badge, front and rear horses.)
3. All new rubber including door gaskets, window channels, hood and tailgate gaskets, window trim, and so on.
4. New front windscreen. In order to properly disassemble the car for paint the windshield was removed and replaced with new.
5. New front fog and turn light lenses (one fog lamp had a small crack prior to replacement)
6. Most interior carpet replaced with new, what wasn’t replaced I have new.
7. Left front underbody AC screen panel new.
8. Most fasteners replaced with new stainless or anodized with plastic locking nuts.
9. New Michelin Pilot Sport tires or tyres. The only matched set currently available from Longstones in the UK.
10. Fresh 30k engine out timing belt service 2012 preformed in FL by Black Horse. Fresh engine reseal.
11. New Brake rotors and pads, overhauled and refinished calipers
12. Recent clutch.
13. Fresh oil change Mobile 1 15/50
14. New plugs, fuel filters and air filter.
15. Rear diff and brake fluids just changed.
16. Car was disassembled, stripped and refinished to its current stellar condition.

This is a partial list, but safe to say if a part was available from Ferrari it was replaced. Painted with PPG in correct Grizio Metallic. Pristine show quality, mechanically fresh approximately 200 miles since restoration. The only non OEM items installed on the car are a stebro exhaust system with pre cats removed (I have them and they are included) Cats are installed. The Stebro exhaust and removal of pre cats allow the system to operate at a cooler temp, with less fatigue and free flow. The sound is awesome, definitely more DB’s than stock, but civilized. The engine sings with this setup although, if you prefer the pre cats can easily be reinstalled. This was the last year of the Testarossa and the first year for the TR. Far more invested than BIN

History

The car was ordered by a US buyer to Belgium, and was delivered to Texas in 1991 where it stayed until about 2003 when it moved to NJ and then Pompano, FL. I purchased the car in nice original condition in FL and moved it to Dublin, OH where we completed the restoration 5/2012 The car was ordered us spec, so MPH on Speedo, but odometer is in KM.

The asking price of $62,500 is leaning towards the higher end of what one could expect to pay for a Testarossa of this vintage and mileage. Anything under $50,000 should be approached with caution, and cars that close in on $70,000 should be the best of the best or a later 512TR or F512M. This car has had an impressive amount of repairs and maintenance items addressed, but it would be worth checking to see if this car could be registered in your state properly, given this isn't a US market car. Since it's been here in the states a while, I wouldn't suspect it would be too much of a problem.

We've featured a few Alfa Romeo sedans this week, and here is one more to round out the week: an impossibly mint 1991 164S. The S is my favorite of all the 164 sedans, as it is the more sporting of the trim levels. A bit more horsepower was squeezed out of the 12 valve single cam V6 via modified camshafts and intake system. On the outside was modified lower body cladding and 15" alloy wheels. The interior was treated to more aggressively bolstered seats, with Recaro seating as an option. This 164S is for sale in Philadelphia at an attractive price.

You are looking at a very rare super low mileage Alfa Romeo hat has been well kept and maintained; it's an all around great looking vehicle. This is a-never-smoked-in beauty that looks and smells great. The exterior is black in good condition. The interior is black leather that looks new. The console and dash look great as well!

The engine sounds, runs and feels smooth and provides abundant power. The 3-liter, fuel-injected V-6 develops 200 horsepower. This is one sedan that steps rather lively from the light and doesn`t need a turbo or supercharged boost to swing quickly into and out of the passing lane. The 5 Speed Manual transmission shifts well - smoothly and easily.

All the electrical options appear to be in working order. The engine compartment looks clean, and void of any leaks. Great running condition vehicle. The A/C works well and blows cold air! We had our mechanic check the car. All in all, the car really runs great! As you can judge for yourself from the pictures - the interior is clean and looks great!

The trunk has many functions, one of which is obviously the superior cargo capacity. The back seats come down in case you need to increase the payload capacity.The trunk is very clean and roomy as you can see from the pictures. The previous owner used it sparely and it looks as if it were new. This is a unique one of a kind vehicle, that is painted with a color that really makes it stand out in the crowd of other cars. It's been garage kept, and is in good condition.

According to the vehicle report, this 164 lived in New York City for most of its life. You wouldn't know this from the appearance, though, as this car looks extremely well kept. Save for some rusty lug nuts and a marred badge on the grille, there's not much that needs tidying up. I've seen some 164 sedans priced well above $10,000 in the last few years, but these are usually museum quality pieces with under 50,000 miles. I'd say this car is priced in the ballpark. Its condition and mileage along with the S trim level and 5-speed gearbox make it one of the most desirable 164 trim combos out there.

1991 Alfa Romeo 164

For under $15,000 these days, there's a lot of options on the used market if you are looking for a lot of style and luxury on a budget. While many buyers opt for popular German and Japanese high-end marques, there is always the road less traveled for those individualists: the Alfa Romeo 164. This was the company's last stand in the US market until the 8C Competizione sports car arrived in limited numbers in 2008. For sale in California, this 164 has the lesser seen cloth seats and hubcaps, but still cuts a dashing presence on the street.

1991 Alfa Romeo 164L, low miles, one owner, Autocheck certified. Extra clean. Last of the great Alfa sedans. This Iconic Alfa Romeo 164 L has a high gloss white exterior and is matched beautifully with a gray interior. This classic motor car is in excellent original condition. This amazing car has been sheltered and well cared in the temperate Southern California climate which is ideal for a vehicle to maintain its excellent condition. The car was never driven in harsh conditions. The car looks to be accident and rust free and is all original.

Interior:

The vibrant interior accents the exterior absolutely beautifully. The original interior is in excellent condition and unmolested in its original state; the seats hardly look sat in, the back seat looks like no one has sat in it. The dash is in flawless original condition without the typical cracking or fading expected for its age. The door panels are like new and all the carpets look as though they have never been exposed to any elements. The headliner and accents are in unblemished excellent condition. The truck mat looks as though nothing have been placed in it. The motor car has never been smoked in.

Exterior:

The exterior appears to be all original and unmolested, there is no evidence of any accidents, and the paint has the original high gloss shine with all the trim and accents in mint condition. The glass is in excellent condition without cracks. The high performance tires are in near condition.

Mechanical:

The engine runs good, the donor indicated the vehicle could use a good tune up as it wasn’t driven much. The transmission shifts very good, the brakes function well.There are no visible leaks or any other signs of neglect or abuse.

Good, low mileage 164s are changing hands between $6,500 and $12,000 these days, with the sportier 164Q bringing top dollar. Since this is a "base" model 164 with the automatic, it will probably reach to the lower end of this range. I'd say somewhere around $7,000 might be enough to take this beauty home at the end of the no reserve auction.

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

Always a favorite here at CICFS, the Alfa Romeo Spider is an attractive, affordable way to experience al fresco Italian motoring in its simplest form. Of all the 105 Series Spiders, the 1991-94 Series 4 model offers a curious mix of classic and modern looks with modern reliability by way of Bosch Motronic fuel injection. This Series 4 Spider for sale in South Carolina has higher mileage but has been well looked after, appearing classy in a lesser seen shade of black.

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce. Black on tan leather. Clean Carfax. 112K documented miles. 5-speed manual. Southern car. Starts right up, runs and drives strong and smooth with no issues. Condition overall is very good both cosmetically and mechanically. Engine runs quiet, pulls hard. No 2nd gear transmission crunch. Brand new Bridgestone Potenza Hi-Performance tires. Newer all leather (front, back and sides) and suede seat covers.

Paint is glossy and shiny, with a few expected door dings and paint imperfections of car of this age. Lots of new parts and standard Alfa maintenances services have been performed. IE, you will not have to have these regular items done upon purchase: new clutch master cylinder and slave, motor mounts, transmission mount, valve adjustment, head re-torque, fresh fluids/flush everywhere, new air/fuel filters, new battery, tune-up (plugs, rotor, cap), hoses, belts, thermostat, fuses, bulbs, etc. I have receipts for all the parts and services.

Head gasket is leak free, brakes are strong, clutch is super strong, power windows run fast and smooth. Canvas top looks good outside, but is tired inside (faded with some sealant patches), although the top is leak free. Full tan book cover. EVERY single electrical function and little light bulb works, except the tachometer and the AC (intact, blowers and switches work, needs recharge at the very least). 2 sets of keys (originals and spares), complete original toolkit in bag, booklet, full newer Pirelli P4 spare tire. Has detachable face Pioneer CD player, new power antenna.

The only negatives of the car are typical to Alfas of this vintage. Typical light oil leaks, but no oil burning. There is a small paint repair near rear taillight where there was rain water damage (there was a tiny common spot of corrosion here which was ground down to bare metal, treated, and painted). There is a 4x2 inch patch in the spare tire well, professionally repaired. The hood is slightly oxidized in places, and there are a few tiny rock chips on the nose. Overall, these are things one would expect for a car of this age.

All in all this is a very clean and meticulously sorted Alfa Spider. I bought the car to keep but stumbled upon a fixer upper Spider and decided to sell one. This Spider has been well maintained, and will make a very reliable car for the enthusiast who will enjoy putting guilt free miles on it. There’s at least $5000 worth of services done to this car, that will need to be done to any Alfa you buy, regardless of mileage. The tachometer can easily be removed and sent for repair at Palo Alto (it is getting signal), the AC can be charged up (I will even throw in a new, sealed fresh IAP receiver dryer). These are just things I haven’t gotten to.

I am an honest seller and an Alfa guy – this is my fifth Spider and I love fixing them up as strictly a labor of love. It truly needs nothing to drive across country. This car has more mileage than most Series 4 Spiders we've seen here, but it has been owned by an Alfa enthusiast and received the care it deserved. The seller's asking price is realistic enough, given the condition and that he seems flexible on negotiation to a point. If you're thinking about buying a play toy for the summer, now is the time to get your hands on a classic Spider to enjoy.

1991 Alfa Romeo 164

Another week, another low mileage Alfa Romeo 164. But this 164 is unequivocally the lowest mileage example we've featured on CICFS. For sale in Texas, this sunroof delete 164 has under 5,000 miles and was used sparingly by an elderly owner. Now owned by an enthusiast who has a low mileage Series 4 Spider as well, this sharp sedan is certainly going to garner some interest from the Alfa faithful.

Up for sale is my gorgeous 1991 Alfa Romeo 164L in great shape. This is possibly the lowest mileage Alfa 164 in the country and worldwide. While not new, this is the closest to new that one can possibly get. Owned by an elderly gentleman who drove it sparingly and kept in climate controlled storage prior to my acquisition. It shares a garage space with my 10k mile 1993 Alfa Spider Veloce.

MECHANICAL: The 3.0L 6 cylinder engine fires up immediately and idles smoothly. It shifts through the gears effortlessly.

- The fluids have recently been flushed after the car was in climate-controlled storage.
- The brakes were bled.
- New Fuel pump.
- AC service. AC is cold.
- New front Koni struts replaced aging front ones. Got a 4 wheel alignment as well.

Have receipts for all mechanical work.

EXTERIOR: Beautiful Grey exterior is as new, with the factory pinstripes in place. Body panel fit and finish is as it left the factory.

- 100% rust free. The undercarriage still has traces of factory cosmoline.
- Sunroof delete model.
- Alloy wheels and Tires are in great shape.

INTERIOR: The grey leather is as new and is supple. No wear on the seats or bolsters. The headliner is great shape. Dash is perfect.

- All gauges work.
- Factory radio and speakers in great shape. Power antenna works.
- Missing the factory floor mats. Has aftermarket ones.

Thanks for the interest, bids and questions on my Alfa. I wanted to emphasize that the car is a very well preserved example. I don't see any scratches or dings on the body or bumpers. I have never seen an Alfa in this condition. It would be right at home on the showroom floor. The leather has no wear. The headliner is perfect. Everything is original. Even the factory Good year Tires, without evidence of dry rot.

The car was put in climate controlled hangar from 2007 till this past year. It was driven around the runway every couple of weeks to keep fluids moving. Since the car wasn't registered, there was no record of miles progression. The elderly gentleman I bought it from sold his airplane and was losing his hangar space. He wanted to keep the car preserved and didn't have garage space for it. There are no dings, scratches etc anywhere on the car. The odometer and trip meter both work. I had the car registered and inspected last year.

I am a physician and an automotive enthusiast. I love these young classics. I have a 93 Alfa Spider Veloce as well. I had the car throroughly inspected to verify miles and my mechanic who also works on low mileage air cooled Porsches and Italian marques said he was absolutely certain the miles are original.

This is certainly a unique 164 but what could the value be? For someone who wanted a 164 new and didn't have the chance the first time around, this could be a dream come true. For others, the automatic transmission could hold this car back. The best 164s out there usually trade hands between $8,000 and $10,000, so I'd suspect we are somewhere around that price point. The question is, do you use it as intended or keep preserving it as is? And if you press it into service, will sudden problems arise after years of light use?

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

The Alfa Romeo Spider is probably one of the most featured vehicles here on CICFS and for good reason. The production run lasted almost 30 years and well over 100,000 were produced. So there's a lot of used examples to choose from. My favorites are the early Duetto and the final Series 4. For practicality reasons, I'd probably choose a Series 4 so I could use it regularly. Rarely do we see a Series 4 in silver, but this Spider for sale in Washington has a tad over 40,000 miles and looks showroom fresh.

This stunning 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce is finished in Silver metallic on tan leather, and has only traveled 65,897 miles. It was sold new at Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo in Portland Oregon, July 28th, 1990 to the first owner, and then again in July of 2000 at Ferrari of Seattle with 41,648 miles, until we purchased the car this fall. Being a Pacific North West car since new, and with fresh new leather seats, and a new soft top, it is an exceptional example and a rare find these days. It comes with the original stamped handbooks, Alfa Romeo binder, records, top boot and extra key. I rarely see Alfa Spider's nicer than this car, and few in this color combination.

At just under $17,000, this is about the limit when it comes to Series 4 values. I've seen few that are cleaner than this particular one and it's heartening to know this car hasn't been mothballed; rather, it has just enough mileage on the clock to know that it has been enjoyed from time to time. If this Spider could be had between $14,000 and $15,000, it would be a solid place to park some money. You'd certainly get more smiles out of a chic Italian roadster than a CD or stock options.

1991 Ferrari Testarossa

The 1991 Testarossa was the final shout for the first iteration of the car that symbolized Ferrari in the 1980s. Chiseled Pininfarina lines, wide haunches and a mighty flat-12 cylinder engine came together in a package that was the fantasy of many enthusiasts worldwide. While most were painted red, this silver example for sale in Pennsylvania exudes a bit more subtlety while still remaining rather imposing.

What an awesome car for the sports car enthusiast. This car has been owned by the original purchaser from initial delivery in 1991 for a grand total of $181,000.00. It has been garage kept, as one would expect and has never seen harsh weather, unless you consider a sunny summer day to be a bit harsh. This magnificent machine has a very low total of 14,878 miles. A few of the miles have been added by me as I attempt to step up in class. While I continue to discover the truly finest automotive motoring, I am reveling in only the best that this auto presents. The 12 cylinder engine and subtly tuned exhaust makes this car fly and satisfy your ear for the purr that you desire. A most rare color combination for the very last Testarossa model (1984 to 1991) a magnificent silver body with blue leather combine to make this car even more exceptional. Offset chrome rims offer a most distinguishing contrast to the body. This car gets up and goes while being powered by the 12 cylinder (2 independent motors to those in the know) 4.9 litres, 390 HP mid-engine specifications coupled with an extremely smooth 5 speed transmission. The 12 cylinder configuration has 4 valves per cylinder to total 48 valves operating. Doesn't get much better than that.

For those of you who desire more sizzle, as I do, I am now including a bit of interesting info on the Testarossa in general. I have personal memberships in 2 organizations - one being a north American Italian American association and the other, a local Italian club group. Within, we have gifted and knowledgeable people that school me in the finer things of life. And certainly, this automotive wonder does qualify. The term - Testarossa translates to " Red Head" from Italian to English. Ferrari collaborated with Pininfarina S.p.A. - automobile designer and builder - to provide this auto. The Testarossa name, keep in mind - " Red Head" - describes the red painted cam covers. Subtle, but none the less - hot. I could elaborate a bit more on the name and the inferences but this ad is directed to a family audience. The side vented "cheese graters" are fully functional as well as stylish. The car is rear wheel drive with a 40-60 front to rear weight distribution. 0 to 60 in under 6 seconds and a top end of 180 mph. Quick but luxurious, to include hand sewn leather complimented by fine carpeting. The sum and substance to this is the following - I can envision Sophia Loren in the passenger seat beside me at the wheel. However, my wife would object. Have a really fine day as you ponder this offer to propel you into the jet-set crowd.

While it's nice the owner offered up all of this background information, it would have been good policy to delve into the servicing specifics and what maintenance items have been taken care of already. The asking price is just about right for a Testarossa of this vintage and mileage. Bought properly, these are a lot of cars for the money, as they've never been more inexpensive. However, if you don't do your homework, the wrong car could wind up being a costly proposition.

1991 Alfa Romeo 164L

We've featured a bunch of clean Alfa Romeo 164s on CICFS. While the newest US market 164 is going on 17 years old, it doesn't seem that there is a shortage of low mileage examples out there. While it was the first front-wheel drive exexutive car for Alfa Romeo, enthusiasts have noted that even without a traditional rear-drive chassis, these sedans still have good poise on the road. This 164L for sale in Pittsburgh has covered a scant 22,000 miles and looks amazingly modern in white even though the car is over 20 years old.

One owner, only 24,000 original miles. We have all the books and original window sticker. This is a rare find! Four door, 2 Wheel Drive, Alloy Wheels, Sun/Moon Roof, Air Conditioning, Leather Seats, Power Windows, Alarm, AM/FM Radio, Anti-theft, Antilock Brakes.

While this car has extremely low mileage and appears to be an unmolested example, we're probably about $2,000 to $3,000 off the mark here. Typically, clean 164s will trade hands in the $7,000 to $10,000 range, possibly reaching a little beyond that if it's the sportier 164Q model we're dealing with.

1991 Lamborghini Diablo

The replacement for the Countach was contemplated as early as 1985, with Project 132 turning into what would eventually become the Diablo, or devil, in Spanish. Introduced to the public in 1990, the Diablo carried on the tradition of the mid-engined supercar formula, this time with a multi-port fuel injected, 5.7 liter V12 capable of producing just shy of 500 horsepower. This car would live on throughout the 1990s and into the next century, carrying Lamborghini into new ownership and future profitability. This Diablo for sale in Texas is an early model that represents an interesting period for the manufacturer. While this was a much more streamlined and civilized car than the model it replaced, the inherent coachbuilt character of the Diablo still shone through.

This is THE nicest example of a 1991 Lamborghini Diablo that you will find anywhere! This Diablo is exceptionally clean inside and out, has a fantastic service history, and literally it is amazing at how clean this car is for a 1991. It is a beautiful Black exterior paint color finished in a Black leather interior with yellow stitching throughout! Extensive maintenance, all factory OEM, and will definitely qualify for collector quality.

At just under $85,000, this Diablo is priced fairly attractively, given that some later models still regularly command well into the six figure range. Granted, the earlier Diablos were a bit rougher around the edges, as Audi had yet to take the reigns of the company. For some enthusiasts, however, that is a bonus. It's no coincidence that the Lamborghini emblem includes a raging bull, because owning one can be akin to taming the notorious beast.

The Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spider we featured last week sold for $12,600. Not a bad deal at all considering the low mileage and stunning condition. Here’s another Spider Veloce similar to the one featured last week that looks great on a set of Panasport alloy wheels. While I never had a problem with the stock wheels, this classic pattern adds a little something special to what is already a great design.

1991 Alfa Romeo (Red) Spider Veloce Roadster. Mille Magna Red w/Tan Leather & Suede Interior. Mileage: 48,975 pampered miles. This vehicle was sold at Cornes Motors Ltd. in San Diego, CA. in 1991. I believe it to be a three owner vehicle. Has all the original books and records including the sales brochure. Also included is a complete shop service manual and related CD. The original Alfa Spider rims (telephone dial) style have been replaced by five (5) PanaSport aluminum wheels and new Toyo Proxes 4/205/55R15 tires. What a difference in the overall vehicle's appearance. Whew! For those purist out there I will include the five (5) original rims with the vehicle's sale.

New custom logo floormats are also included. The convertible top assembly is in great condition with no rips or tears visible and a crystal clear back window. The seats are leather and suede and are in good condition (some wear showing on suede part of seats). The vehicle has had some paintwork on the passengers side door and (R) front fender due to a minor "fender bender" other than that the body's straight. The vehicle runs and drives great! This same year, same color Alfa Spider Veloce just sold on eBay Motors last Friday 08/10/12 for $12,600 with 41K+ miles and the original rims. I spent over $2,000. upgrading the old wheels and tires on the vehicle. This vehicle needs nothing but a new owner!

Given the recent sale of a nearly identical car, it's safe to say the reserve is a little north of $10,000. Panasport wheels are not inexpensive and I doubt 8,000 miles is really that much of a detriment to buyers in the grand scheme of thing. It seems these lower mileage Series 4 Spiders have settled in strongly in the $10,000 to $15,000 range, with the usual condition, mileage and color being the main determinants in value.
