1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

The Alfa Romeo Spider is probably one of the most featured vehicles here on CICFS and for good reason. The production run lasted almost 30 years and well over 100,000 were produced. So there's a lot of used examples to choose from. My favorites are the early Duetto and the final Series 4. For practicality reasons, I'd probably choose a Series 4 so I could use it regularly. Rarely do we see a Series 4 in silver, but this Spider for sale in Washington has a tad over 40,000 miles and looks showroom fresh.

This stunning 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce is finished in Silver metallic on tan leather, and has only traveled 65,897 miles. It was sold new at Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo in Portland Oregon, July 28th, 1990 to the first owner, and then again in July of 2000 at Ferrari of Seattle with 41,648 miles, until we purchased the car this fall. Being a Pacific North West car since new, and with fresh new leather seats, and a new soft top, it is an exceptional example and a rare find these days. It comes with the original stamped handbooks, Alfa Romeo binder, records, top boot and extra key. I rarely see Alfa Spider's nicer than this car, and few in this color combination.

At just under $17,000, this is about the limit when it comes to Series 4 values. I've seen few that are cleaner than this particular one and it's heartening to know this car hasn't been mothballed; rather, it has just enough mileage on the clock to know that it has been enjoyed from time to time. If this Spider could be had between $14,000 and $15,000, it would be a solid place to park some money. You'd certainly get more smiles out of a chic Italian roadster than a CD or stock options.

1994 Alfa Romeo Spider Commemorative Edition

The end of the 105/115 Series Alfa Romeo Spider came in 1994. This was a rather somber occasion, not just because it marked the end of a production run spanning four decades, but Alfa Romeo's exit from the US market would come one year later. For its final year, Alfa Romeo introduced the CE, or Commemorative Edition, of which only 190 were produced. Included in the package was a special badge on the nose, CE badging on the rear, gold center caps on the wheels and burl wood interior trim. These CE Spiders don't come up for sale all too often, so this one on offer in Florida represents an opportunity to get the Spider in its ultimate form.

This is an absolutely beautiful, Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce CE, Folio Green. The car is number 164 of 190 produced for 1994 the last year Alfa Spiders were imported into the usa. These special models have serialized dash plaques, gold wheel cap centers, wood shift knobs and wood door panels. The Commemorative Edition are becoming very collectable and almost impossible to find. Just think about this, there were thousands of spiders produced every year before 1994 but only 190 the final year. I believe this is the only CE advertised for sale in the entire USA.

The rear window and top are perfect, as is the tan top boot cover. All of the accessories work, including the air conditioning. Just under 57,000 miles. Books and manuals present. Drives absolutely perfect. No shakes, rattles or anything else out of the ordinary. Paint is exceptional Interior is as nice as the exterior. Tan leather and suede seats are near perfect. All of the gauges work as they should. No warning lights. Mechanically, the car is outstanding . It starts immediately warm or cold. Valve train is quiet with no excessive ticking. Oil pressure is good. No smoking whatsoever. The car revs freely and feels good as you row through the gears. which change easily with no grinding or hang ups in any gear. All 4 wheels are unmarred and the tires have 90% tread left. Car has the original Alfa Romeo radio.

The series 4 spiders (1991-1994) are the last and arguably the best produced. If you are looking for a truly special Alfa Spider look no further this is the car that will give its new owner much joy with stunning looks, fun to drive characteristics and will surely appreciate over time. Whether you are driving through winding roads or down to the beach motoring pleasure awaits you. I also have 2 low mileage 1991 spiders for sale a red/tan and silver/tan.

Prices for good, Series 4 Spiders seem to be creeping up slowly, and the CE will certainly be a favorite of many collectors for years to come. At almost $20,000, I think we are shooting for the moon here a bit. If this car had under 40,000 miles we might edge close to that figure, but as is, we're probably somewhere around $15,000 in terms of a realistic number to place on this car.

1993 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

I'm continually amazed just how many clean, low mileage Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spiders are out there for sale. If I owned one, I certainly couldn't resist using it as intended, especially if I lived in a sunny state like Florida, where this Spider resides.

I'm proud to offer this recently serviced Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce for sale. The paint is 100% original and in amazing shape! From new belts, hoses, shocks, bushings and a battery, to the ice cold air conditioning and the rare padded tonneau cover, this is the affordable Italian sports car for someone who wants the best Alfa Romeo Spider out there. I've sold quite a few sports cars on ebay over the last 10 years, and have a 100% positive feedback score. This was my personal car, so not a penny has been spared on making the drive the best a person could have on four wheels. It's fast and nimble, yet comfortable and smooth. Everything about this car will exceed your expectations! There is no mistaking this Italian beauty for any other sports car, just serviced and ready for immediate delivery!

It seems the spread for Series 4 spiders is holding steady at between $10,000 and $15,000. This one is priced right at the top of that range. I'm curious that the seats look to be a darker shade of tan than what is on the dashboard and door panels. I'd suspect these seats might have been reupholstered at one point or another, which is something the seller should address. While clean, it's not the lowest mileage example out there, so I'd suspect somewhere around $13,000 might be just about right for this Alfa.

1993 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

Even though the colder months are upon us in my part of the world, the appeal of the classic Alfa Romeo Spider never does fade. This Series 4 Spider Veloce for sale in Florida is a low mileage, one owner example that looks great in this shade of green.

This is an absolutely beautiful, one previous owner, Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce, Folio Green. The car has never had any paint work. The top and rear window are perfect, as is the tan top boot cover. All of the accessories work, including the air conditioning. It has an upgraded Alpine CD/MP3 stereo with auxillary input and bluetooth. The original stereo is in the trunk in the Alpine box. Just under 25,000 miles. All books and manuals present, including the window sticker. Even has the original Alfa touch up paint that is still useable.

Drives absolutely perfect. No shakes, rattles or anything else out of the oridnary. Both sets of original keys present. The car has a few small paint chips which were touched up with the factory touch-up paint. The car is so original that it still has the original Pirelli P4000 tires. They will be replaced before delivery since they have some dry rot, but I left them on for now to demonstrate how unmolested the car is. Interior is as nice as the exterior. Tan leather and suede seats are near perfect and show virtually no wear. Dash is perfect. All of the vents are present and rotate freely. All of the gauges work as they should. No warning lights.

Mechanically, the car is outstanding. It starts immediately warm or cold. Valve train is quiet with no excessive ticking. Oil pressure is good. No smoking whatsoever. The car revs freely and feels good as you row through the gears. which change easily with no grinding or hang ups in any gear. The top handle trim piece that is missing in the pictures was in the ashtray and is now back on the top handle. I could go on and on, but in sum, this is a near perfect, 1previous owner, unmolested car in a rare color that is getting harder to find.

The Series 4 spiders (1991-1994) are the last and arguably the best produced. This pristine example will give the new owner much joy with its good stunning looks and fun to drive characteristics. Whether you are driving through winding roads or down to the beach motoring pleasure awaits you. If you have a feedback of less then 5 please call before submitting an offer or hitting the buy it now button.

This certainly looks like a tidy car, from the door jambs to the leather on the seats. As we've seen, decent Series 4 Spiders are fetching between $10,000 and $15,000 these days. This one is priced at the top of the market, but if it appears and drives as described, it could be worth it to the right person.

2007 Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT

The Series 4 Maserati Quattroporte has been going strong for eight years now. These executive saloons have been snapped up by those wanting something a bit different from the Mercedes-Benz S Class and BMW 7 series establishment. While most of these cars are ordered in muted hues such as maroon, gray or black, this red one certainly jumps out at you. For sale in Tennessee, this particular example has the more recent ZF automatic gearbox, not the DuoSelect transmission that can be more finicky around town and lead to greater maintenance expenditures over time.

Certified PreOwned (CPO) with fully transferable factory warranty through June 2013. Purchased from Maserati Dallas and serviced by Maserati Nashville. Four door sport sedan, 4.2L V8 FI DOHC 32V 8 CYL.

I can’t say that I’ve seen a red Quattroporte before and admittedly, this car won’t be to everyone’s taste. But for the individual who wants something different or wants to flaunt it, it doesn’t get larger or more brash than this. The asking price of just under $50,000 is right around what average Quattroportes of this year are commanding. Whether the color will be a detriment to its value remains to be seen.

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

The Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spider we featured last week sold for $12,600. Not a bad deal at all considering the low mileage and stunning condition. Here’s another Spider Veloce similar to the one featured last week that looks great on a set of Panasport alloy wheels. While I never had a problem with the stock wheels, this classic pattern adds a little something special to what is already a great design.

1991 Alfa Romeo (Red) Spider Veloce Roadster. Mille Magna Red w/Tan Leather & Suede Interior. Mileage: 48,975 pampered miles. This vehicle was sold at Cornes Motors Ltd. in San Diego, CA. in 1991. I believe it to be a three owner vehicle. Has all the original books and records including the sales brochure. Also included is a complete shop service manual and related CD. The original Alfa Spider rims (telephone dial) style have been replaced by five (5) PanaSport aluminum wheels and new Toyo Proxes 4/205/55R15 tires. What a difference in the overall vehicle's appearance. Whew! For those purist out there I will include the five (5) original rims with the vehicle's sale.

New custom logo floormats are also included. The convertible top assembly is in great condition with no rips or tears visible and a crystal clear back window. The seats are leather and suede and are in good condition (some wear showing on suede part of seats). The vehicle has had some paintwork on the passengers side door and (R) front fender due to a minor "fender bender" other than that the body's straight. The vehicle runs and drives great! This same year, same color Alfa Spider Veloce just sold on eBay Motors last Friday 08/10/12 for $12,600 with 41K+ miles and the original rims. I spent over $2,000. upgrading the old wheels and tires on the vehicle. This vehicle needs nothing but a new owner!

Given the recent sale of a nearly identical car, it's safe to say the reserve is a little north of $10,000. Panasport wheels are not inexpensive and I doubt 8,000 miles is really that much of a detriment to buyers in the grand scheme of thing. It seems these lower mileage Series 4 Spiders have settled in strongly in the $10,000 to $15,000 range, with the usual condition, mileage and color being the main determinants in value.

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

Hot on the heels of the low mileage Series 3 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce we featured on Monday, here's a mint condition example of that cars successor, the Series 4. With almost identical mileage, this Spider looks great in Rosso Corsa over tan leather. Summer isn't over just yet and I'm sitting here longing to have a go in one of these cars.

Hi, you are looking at a very nice and original 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider with only 41k original miles. Signal Red with tan leather and sued interior, 5 speed transmission, AC works ice cold, everything works on this car. Summer time is here and this is a dream car to be driven with the top down. This is a original car and it looks almost the same way as it left the factory showroom. Just a little wear as you see in the pictures, car runs like a dream. Starts right up with no smoke or leaks.

Dashboard looks brand new (very important) paint is very nice and shiny, just little scratches on few spots that you have to look for it to see it. The top is in good condition, original stereo (CD) with premium sound system, oil has been changed recently. This is a 22 year old classic Italian car and for its age is in mint condition as you see in the picture but it is not a brand new car so please ask any questions before you place a bid. I am selling the car as is with no reserve auction, that means that I am here to sell the car.

I demand a $500.00 none refundable deposit by PayPal after the auction is over and the rest in 4 days by wire only. If you don't agree please move on to the next car. If you have less than 10 feedback you must contact me first or I will cancel your bid and block you. I can assist with shipping, oh by the way the car needs engine mounts as my mechanic told me. Tires are very good, brakes are very good, clutch is very strong. All inspections must be done before the auction ends, after the auction I wont allow inspection. Thank you all.

With no reserve, it would be safe to say this car will probably reach somewhere between $13,000 to $15,000, which is what clean Series 4 Spiders with under 50,000 miles seem to be bringing these days. Personally, the Series 4 is my favorite of the bunch, barring the original boattail Duetto. It's certainly on my short list in the next couple years, and if one surfaces for sale in Rosso Vinaccia, I'm going to have a hard time holding back.

Theme Week: A Tribute to Sergio Pininfarina: 2006 Maserati Quattroporte

This past weekend, I was fortunate enough to test drive a Maserati Quattroporte for the first time. Upon meeting this machine, I was amazed that something this big could be so hard edged. Also, I am in agreement with most in the motoring press about whether I could live with the DuoSelect automated manual gearbox. Nevertheless, I was captivated by this car and the awesome power and sound from the Ferrari derived 4.2 liter V8. It is certainly one of the more memorable cars I’ve driven. This sedan also happens to be another modern classic that Sergio Pininfarina had a hand in bringing to fruition. As good as the Porsche Panamera is, the aesthetics of the Quattroporte show up its rival from Stuttgart. This Quattroporte for sale in Las Vegas represents a chance for motoring enthusiasts of more modest means to experience a fine Italian exotic.

This is a rare opportunity to purchase a car designed by Pininfarina in superior, nearly-new condition. Everything works perfectly and this Maserati drives just like a new one - really. Third party inspections are always welcome. There is no rust and no sign of abuse in any way. No objectionable odors, No burns, no tears and only very little wear on the driver's seat side bolster. Mechanically this Maserati Quattroporte is in excellent condition. The paint is smooth and shiny, brakes are strong, transmission shifts perfectly, engine is smooth and quiet. This car needs nothing.

It’s almost hard to fathom that some cars which were once hovering around $100,000 when new have dropped below $40,000 just a few years later. Depreciation, then, is a wonderful thing. With 23,000 miles, a prospective buyer might expect another 20,000 before a major service and clutch replacement. Within the same price range, you could get a car with about 20,000 more miles with a recent service. Even with faults such as high maintenance costs and a somewhat balky gearbox, after driving one, I’ve fallen under the Quattroporte’s spell. It’s certainly a car that has wound up on my bucket list.

1994 Alfa Romeo Spider Commemorative Edition

It was a momentous occasion when the sun finally set on the Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider in 1994. Almost 30 years and four generations later, suspicions arose that the proposed front-drive replacement couldn't live up to the aura of joie de vie offered by the car that was originally introduced in 1966. Recently, on the Alfa Romeo forum Alfa BB a member was desperately seeking a 1994 CE Spider, so I thought given these are somewhat rare, it might be worth featuring another one, given the warm months here in the US are in full swing. This Verde Inglese example is for sale in Florida has a low 33,000 miles on the clock.

1994 Alfa Romeo Spider Commemorative Edition

1994 was the last year for the Duetto based Alfa Spider. In celebration of the car’s sucess, Alfa made 190 special cars called CE’s or Commemorative Editions. The CE Alfa Spyder has special badgeing, a special edition number plate, and a beautiful wood console and wood door caps. They also feature the ultra cool 15” telephone dial style wheels Our car is #178 of the 190 built. It came to us from a collector who traded it on a very special Bentley. It is in excellent condition with only minimal evidence of use. The paint and leather have been well kept after. The mechanicals are perfect with a recent valve adjustment service. Everything is working properly including the air conditioning. The car has fresh Goodyear Eagle tires. The original owner’s books accompanies the car as does a notebook of historical documents including the original window sticker and service records. The mileage shows 33,678 miles. It would be very difficult to find another Commemorative Edition Spider, finding another one like ours would be like finding a needle in a haystack.

The asking price of almost $25,000 is all the money for a Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spider. Even if you could find one with delivery miles, it would still be a steep price to pay, given that you can find nearly similar non-CE edition Spiders with similar mileage for under $15,000. To buy this particular car at this price, one would either have to be very nostalgic or out of touch with the market.

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider

Since it is almost summer, I can't help but think another Alfa Romeo Spider feature this week isn't really one too many. This 1991 Spider for sale in Pennsylvania is a base model 5-speed with a low 23,000 miles under its belt spread between three owners.

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider

This auction is for my extra-clean 1991 Alfa Romeo Spider with approx. 24,000 original miles! Check out the details below of this fine car and be ready for a fun ride! First, the story behind this low mile car. This car was purchased originally by a guy in Maryland, he traded in his '87 Spider on this '91. I have the paperwork to show the original transaction that will be included in this sale, along with service records on the car. That first owner apparently sold the car to a local shop here in PA that specializes in imports/Italian cars. This car was then purchased by a friend of a friend from that shop in 1996 with a little over 22,000 miles on it.

The 2nd owner drove the car a whopping 1,201 miles in 15 years, he only drove the car to shows and around the block for fun. I know he appreciated this type of car, it is just a shame he didn't take it out and really enjoy it. I bought the car and finally registered and titled it last month. I have driven it 350-400 miles in the last 2 weeks, this is a fun car to drive! I would love to keep it, but I have a small Jeep collection that required me to rent a 2,000 sq ft garage and I'm already out of space! I really just don't have the room to park this or the time to play with it. This car needs a new owner that appreciates these cars and will take it out and enjoy it!!

This is what I have recently done to the car:

New Battery (7 year DieHard Gold)
Installed 4 brand new Michelin tires
New PA state inspection and emissions stickers
New brake pads (installed by prev owner)

The car runs and drives very nice! It starts up every time and has great passing power for a 4cyl 16 valve. The stick shift in this car is extremely nice and the car does NOT have any 2nd gear synchro issues. The shifts are nice and firm every time, downshifting into 2nd does not produce any grinding. Alfa owners will tell you that the 2nd gear synchro can be the week link in the tranny. The car will grind going into reverse unless you shift into a forward gear first. I usually shift to 4th, then R and I have no issues. I had thought this was a problem until I read about this on the AlfaBB.... apparently that's "just how they are".

The car has a few (common) needs right now:

A/C functions but does not blow cold. I have only driven the car on nice days with the top down, so I haven't checked this out yet.
There is a small dent on the leading edge of the bumper above the Alfa emblem. (see pics)
The airbag light is flashing grounding codes. This is common on these cars, the codes can be reset.
Sometimes there is an intermittent clutch throw out bearing squeak when taking off from a stop (it wont do it when you take it to the mechanic... trust me)

Please check out the pics and ask any questions! Check out how nice the interior is, the seats are just about perfect. Carpet and mats are nice too! The top boot is included in the trunk. Speaking of the top, it is in excellent condition. The window is clear, there is no holes, and it functions as it should. There is also a full size spare under the trunk carpet. Jack points on the car are all in nice shape. Tires and brakes are brand new! Any stone chips/dings on the paint were touched up by previous owner, a nice paint job could make it really perfect! I personally don't paint cars, because then I would be afraid to drive them. This car has averaged 28 mpg for me, not too shabby. This car always runs cool, on the highway and in traffic. All of the original books and papers are included in this sale. The window sticker, owner's manual, tire books, etc., see the pics. I have the full Autocheck report for this car. Title is clear, no lien, and is in my name.

Even with this car's minor faults, I can't help but think it won't last long at $9,500. This leaves room for repair costs and then some when compared to completely sorted examples that are selling in the $14,000 to $20,000 range. For a Series 4 Spider, even if it is a base model, anything under $10,000 in this kind of shape could be considered well bought.
